Learn Guitar Chord...Practice...Practice...Practice!!
By Verlyn Spreeman
The only way I know of to learn guitar chord is by checking them out for yourself and then practice playing them untill you are comfortable with hand and finger placement. There are all sorts of books, videos, and DVD's on the market today as well as courses online that can teach you which finger to put where to play any number of guitar chords but to learn guitar chord it takes practice...pactice...practice.
Most of the chord books, videos, and DVD's on the market can help you learn guitar chord buy graphic images of the guitar strings as well as noting finger placement on each indiviual string. You can use them to learn bar chords, which by definition is when one of the fingers, usually the first finger, is used as a bar of sorts to press down all of the strings on one fret while maneuvering(or trying to maneuver if you are just starting out) the over three fingers to press one or two strings to form a chord.
My personal experience is looking at the mystifying chord in the book and wondering if I will ever be able to play a chord in my lifetime. Those people on T.V. have got to be from another planet to be able to contort their fingers in that mannor. But as you practice(there is that bad word again) you will eventually become the master of your instrument. I did and so can you!
You can also learn guitar chord known as hillbilly chords, or sometimes called folk chords which uses one finger on a string while muting un-played strings or playing them open. While this type of chord is typically played on acoustic guitars, they can be used on older guitars with a warped neck and the strings positioned high off the fret board.
Adapt Chords To Tablature and You Will be a Happy Camper
After you learn guitar chord you can use guitar tablature, also known as sheet music, to learn to play your favorite songs. Tablature will have the melody line of the music, and often times the base progression, in addition to the chords shown where they are to be played within the structure of the song. Many times the pictures on the sheet music will not exactly match the change position for your fingers and that is where knowing the song and practicing comes in very handy a lot of times.
While there may be two possibly distinct styles of finger placement when you learn guitar chord it may be essential sometimes to mix the two styles in the same song. Often switching between bar chords and folk chords will help make chord changes faster, easier, and more smooth making you a real professional once masterd. That being so it is usually good idea when you learn guitar chord to learn and practice both styles for those times when this practice is more efficient.
Another choice you have it to buy sheet music for most songs, or books of music, specifically for guitar which most often show the finger diagram for forming the chord. With a little practice you can learn guitar chord as well as changing them on time. Playing the lead part of guitar music, often called the main melody, will take the ability to either read music or have a really good ear for music, but if you learn guitar chord you can play most of your favorite songs on the radio and really impress your friends and family with your unique ability. With continuing your dedicated practice every week soon the whole world will be at the doorstep. Learn guitar chord will be the best thing you ever did!
